National Hot Dog Day falls on July 17 this year and restaurants from Malibu, CA to London are celebrating with a modern haute hot dog renaissance.

Statistics show that Americans consume 20 billion hot dogs annually, so chefs are taking this popular street food to a new innovative level.

The following dining and bar venues have created flavors that redefines the boundaries of traditional hot dogs and takes them to the next level.

Coney Island is home to the original Nathan’s Famous hot dog. The team have created a truly outrageous “Ultimate Surf and Turf Dog” to celebrate. Nestled in a brioche bun, this hot dog has a sprinkle of gold leaf and a dash of caviar.

In Times Square over at The Rum House, they are sliding a grass-fed all beef hot dog into Martin’s potato bun.

At Brooklyn’s Xanadu they are making a Chili Dog topped with their savory chili, cheese sauce and jalepeño for $9.
