It’s (More or Less) In The Name

Turning the power taps on to full blast is nice and all, but the Leichtbau—translated as “lightweight construction” in English—is about much more. Or less, so to speak. That’s because—as its name suggests—the new race car  is also about weight optimization. A diet, if you will.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport Leichtbau manages to shave an impressive 31 kg off the already fleet-of-foot base car, resulting in a net weight of 1,289 kg. Manthey claims that a new weight-to-power ratio of 2.6 kg/hp has been achieved, thanks to the cumulative improvements. This was effectively the result of an extensive usage of carbon fibre components on just about every body panel on the car. The front bonnet was also redesigned in order to accommodate new ducting to improve cooling functions for the radiator and front brakes. Finally, a set of one-off BBS wheels completes the weight loss program.

According to Manthey’s website, “The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport Leichtbau is a special series limited to a small number of units and is now available in three different designs. Delivery of the first vehicles will begin at the end of October 2024. A passenger package and other Manthey options are available.”
