Nearly a decade ago Horacio Pagani came up with an amazing idea, he already had the record-breaking Zonda R that taken onto the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife to set a lap time of 6 minutes and 47 seconds, but that was with a Mercedes-AMG V12 pumping out ‘just’ 739 bhp, after 10 units of the Zonda R track-only monster were built, by June 2013 we got something new from Pagani, the Zonda Revolucion, an evolution of the Zonda R, hence the R Evolution name, now with 800 hp, and with even more impressive aerodynamics this car promptly set a new record on the Green Hell track: 6 minutes 30 seconds.
Initially, the rumor was that only one single unit of the Zonda Revolucion would be built, priced at €2,200,000 before taxes, but it turned out Horacio decided to build five units, and one of them is truly a work of art, apparently, the number 5 of 5 which was on display during the 2014 Geneva Motor Show has recently changed hands after being located in Japan for almost 10 years, and this beast is something different, finished in a blue-tinted, visible carbon fiber weave body rolling on glossy black center-lock wheels hiding blue calipers.
And the interior is equally as impressive with lots of carbon fiber being visible while seated in blue and black seats in an upholstery of smooth leather combined with Alcantara for that extra grip when cornering this track-only hypercar, and you’ll need all the grip you can get with 800 hp available, 730 Nm (or 538 ft lbs) of torque, all inside a car that puts just 1,070 kg on the scale … just another number to impress you, the Pagani Zonda Revolucion can accelerate with a 0.8 G-Force hitting the occupants.
I couldn’t find any official information if this specific car also left the factory for €2,200,000 (about $2,900,000 back in 2014) or if this visible carbon fiber body was an expensive option, but it’s safe to say that when this car changed hands after being listed for auction by BH Auction (Bingo) in Japan (which hasn’t disclosed the sale price by the way) it would have required a lot more money to be transferred between the seller and the buyer, who apparently had the car shipped to the United States a few days ago.
The impressive Mercedes-Benz AMG 6-Liter V12 engine was taken from the Zonda R to be developed further for the Zonda Revolucion, but wait, there is also a Zonda R Evolution it seems, out of the 10 or so Zonda R, a handful were reportedly upgraded to ‘Evolution’ specs, which isn’t the same as a Zonda Revolucion by the way, but back to the engine, we’re talking about the famous M120 V12 unit, mated to a 6-Speed sequential gearbox to deliver a staggering acceleration of just 2.7 seconds to 60 mph from a standstill, and while we’re talking about a car that weighs just 2359 lbs, this is still a rather large hypercar with an overall length of no less than 4774 mm (188.0 in).
So we now know this very rare car changed hands recently, the buyer had the car crated for shipment from Japan to the United States, complete with the additional crates for wheels, tires, and even Pagani racing overalls were delivered with the Pagani Zonda Revolucion when new, they all came to the USA as we can see in the Shmee150 video below who happened to be present when the car was revealed sitting inside her crate:
The Pagani Zonda Revolucion was subsequently transported to Pagani of Greenwich, a division of Miller Motorcars, which was responsible for importing this rare beauty in the USA and making sure this one of five was ready to be delivered to her fortunate owner who will actively use it on the track and bring her to various car events across the US:
